LAWI Engineering is proud to actively making the Fiji Islands green again!
LAWI Engineering has won the bid to be the technology partner and the supplier for the ‘boiler island’ of the 12 MW biomass power plant project to be built in the Western Division of the Fiji islands. By today “Fiji is heavily dependent on imported fossil fuel for producing energy, fuel and transportation. This investment is timely for energy security" says the Minister Lieutenant Colonel Inia Seruiratu at the ground breaking ceremony.
The project is supposed to be the pilot power plant out of a series until 2020. “The Fiji Electricity Authority (FEA) is aiming to provide clean and affordable energy solutions to Fiji with at least 90 per cent of the energy requirements through renewable resources" says Mr. Sang Sun the Chairman of GIMCO. Both, GIMCO and LAWI, are ready to actively support the FEA in the achievement of this energy target.
The project is led by Tropik Gimco Bioenergy, a company formed by local Tropik Wood Industries Limited and the Korean company GIMCO for which LAWI Engineering is the technology partner and with which LAWI Engineering has signed a contract for the supply of the mutli-fuel LAWI EtaPlant® including fuel and ash handling systems as well as the automation system for the entire power plant.
